Well-being and -ageing with chronical disease: the BV2 project

    Get PDF
International audienceThe BV2 project aims to propose a monitoring system for wellbeing but also well-aging working on the prevention, detection and monitoring using a System of the Systems (SoS) approach. The project partner already uses the IoT technologies and the BV2 platform will combine the different developed systems. The main originality of the project consist s in the development of a virtual platform by combining the existing system

Raspcare: A Telemedicine Platform for the Treatment and Monitoring of Patients with Chronic Diseases

Metabolic and electrophysiological measures must remain within normal values to maintain the quality of life of chronic patients. Furthermore, depending on the age and disease stage of the individual, automatic identification of risk situations is critical for emergency support. To achieve these goals, this study proposes a technological solution termed Raspcare to help both the patients in their self-care and the medical teams monitoring the patients. The solution consists of a domestic gateway equipped with a microcontroller and various interfaces to allow interaction between the platform and household devices, such as televisions, biometric sensors, blood glucose metres, non-invasive pressure gauges, smartphones and smartwatches, among others. The gateway implements a Linux OS application responsible for executing the user’s health plan, which involves periodic measurements, medications and dietary care. Moreover, the application has data processing algorithms to establish alerts for the automatic detection of abnormal measurements and falls

Home monitoring for frailty detection through sound and speaker diarization analysis

As the French, European and worldwide populations are aging, there is a strong interest for new systems that guarantee a reliable and privacy preserving home monitoring for frailty prevention. This work is a part of a global environmental audio analysis system which aims to help identification of Activities of Daily Life (ADL) through human and everyday life sounds recognition, speech presence and number of speakers detection. The focus is made on the number of speakers detection. In this article, we present how recent advances in sound processing and speaker diarization can improve the existing embedded systems. We study the performances of two new methods and discuss the benefits of DNN based approaches which improve performances by about 100%.Comment: JETSAN, Jun 2023, Aubervilliers & Paris, Franc

Sound environment analysis in smart home

    No full text
International audienceThis study aims at providing audio-based interaction technology that lets the users have full control over their home environment, at detecting distress situations and at easing the social inclusion of the elderly and frail population. The paper presents the sound and speech analysis system evaluated thanks to a corpus of data acquired in a real smart home environment. The 4 steps of analysis are signal detection, speech/sound discrimination, sound classification and speech recognition. The results are presented for each step and globally. The very first experiments show promising results be it for the modules evaluated independently or for the whole system

Interaction with a Virtual Coach for Active and Healthy Ageing

International audienceSince life expectancy has increased significantly over the past century, society is being forced to discover innovative ways to support active aging and elderly care. The e-VITA project, which receives funding from both the European Union and Japan, is built on a cutting edge method of virtual coaching that focuses on the key areas of active and healthy aging. The requirements for the virtual coach were ascertained through a process of participatory design in workshops, focus groups, and living laboratories in Germany, France, Italy, and Japan. Several use cases were then chosen for development utilising the open-source Rasa framework. The system uses common representations such as Knowledge Bases and Knowledge Graphs to enable the integration of context, subject expertise, and multimodal data, and is available in English, German, French, Italian, and Japanese

Fusion de données pour la télévigilance médicale

National audienceThis article aims to describe the fall detection problem corresponding to distress situations widely met with elderly persons and showing very heavy consequences on their physical and psychic health status. To solve the crucial issue of a correct abnormal event detection and the "doubt killing" issue facing potential waste of time and means for the emergency and rescue centers, Telecom SudParis developed data fusion approaches for heterogeneous and time-evolutive input data leading to specific processing architectures such as fuzzy logics and evidential networks based on the Dempster-Shaffer Theory of the belief. It also tends to show that these kinds of data fusion processing are encouraging for multi-sensors/agents healthcare decision process applied to the distress problem prevention
